PEth is a direct biomarker of alcohol intake, providing a reliable measure of alcohol use over the past two to four weeks. Unlike other tests like CDT, which are influenced by liver disease or genetic factors, PEth is only produced when alcohol is consumed. This makes it ideal for detecting even moderate alcohol intake and is widely used for medical, legal, and workplace alcohol monitoring.
